What is massage?

Massage is the manipulation of soft tissue for therapeutic effect. Massage therapy creates change in the body as it;

• Promotes overall physical, mental and emotional health and well-being and encourages healing;

Read WebMD's article about Massage Therapy here.

What types of body therapies are used?

Relaxation Massage (Swedish Massage) is a system of various gliding and kneading and friction strokes.

Deep Tissue addresses each individual muscle using heavy pressure and slow strokes.

Acupressure treats specific points along the acupuncture meridians.

Medical Massage is the process of eliminating pain using a treatment plan and goals within a time frame.

Trigger Point treats specific points in the belly of the muscle to release toxins.

Sports Massage improves range of motion, strengthens injured muscles, heals scar tissue and realigns muscle fiber.

What will take place in my session?

Your session will take place in a warm quiet room with soft music to create a relaxed atmosphere. Each room has a table designed for body work.

Since each session is designed to meet your individual needs you will be asked some general questions about your health so that the therapist can determine what type of body work to use.

After the consultation the therapist will leave you alone in the room to undress and lie down on the table and cover up with a sheet. Private areas are never exposed.

The therapist uses light oils and lotions during the session. This allows muscles to be worked without causing friction to the skin.

The therapist may reposition you during the session if necessary. You may close your eyes and relax. Please feel free to speak up and communicate at any time.

For your convenience we have rest room facilities nearby for your use before and after your session.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is used to soothe many different kinds of disease. Acupuncture helps you to maintain optimal health and prevent illness. Although results can vary depending upon the patient’s condition, most patients will experience benefits within three to four treatment sessions. People have been benefiting from acupuncture for over 5,000 years. Acupuncture treats conditions from A-Z

Allergies, Acute Sprain & Pain, Arthritis, Bell’s Palsy, Chronic Pain (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome), Digestive Problems, Golfer’s Elbow, Gynecological Disorders (menstrual cramps, PMS), Headaches, Insomnia, Knee Pain, Neck Pain, Post Surgery Pains, Sciatica, Shingles, Shoulder Pain, Sinusitis, Smoking Cessation, Stroke Rehabilitation, Tennis Elbow, Along with numerous other conditions

Are there any side effects from acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an alternative treatment that is very safe when performed by a professional acupuncturist. There are very few side effects caused by acupuncture but could include soreness, bleeding, or bruising at the needle sites. If you have a bleeding disorder or are taking blood thinners, please inform our practitioner prior to the session.

What will I experience during my treatment?

A sensation is felt as the fine needles is being inserted, which is not a pain. After the insertion, the acupuncturist will ask about this sensation to notify them that the needle has reached the correct spot. A visit generally lasts from 45-60 minutes and involves a series of weekly or bi-weekly treatments.

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is the science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas on the hands and feet that correspond to all of the glands, organs and all parts of the body. Reflexology is the unique method of using the thumbs and fingers to work on those reflex areas to unblock the nerve impulses and improving blood flow, creating a homeostasis balance allowing the body to normalize.
